A Personal Curated Visual Stream
I’ve been working on this website for a few years as a personal project. The inspiration came when I went to visit my Grandfather a few years ago. He had a collection of over 40 diaries he’s kept over the years, a treasure trove of things he found inspirational, provocative, his musings …etc. Unfortunately I was only able to go through a handful of them. I then decided to build an easier alternative I could share with my grandchildren one day. Inspired by a theater hallway lined with movie posters, I decided to create a time stamped visual stream of “panes”.
Since I started this a few years ago, the stream is the first thing I see every morning. When I feel nostalgic, I slide back. Essentially I post everything on this stream. Panes that are personal, inspirational, provocative, projects I’m working on ..etc. I find it therapeutic in a strange but good way. Also knowing that everything is backed up on a personal slice of my cloud helps.
Going forward I’m going to have users log-in using twitter/facebook. Based on my relationship with the user, I will curate the stream as well as the mode of interaction accordingly.
A few of my friends have been interested in using this personally. I’ll be spending the next month or two ironing out a few kinks and then open it up (most probably as diary.io -thoughts? ) If you want to help test run it, or have an interesting idea please feel free to ping me at nav[at]navchatterji.com.
